Transforming Lives: Taaleem Foundation and BTEVTA Launch ‘Skill, Dignity, and Opportunity’ Initiative at Mach Correctional Facility
Mach, Balochistan – In a groundbreaking effort to transform the lives of prison residents, Asim Mushtaq, CEO of Taaleem Foundation, and Tahir Malik, Director of Skills Development, visited Mach Correctional Facility last Wednesday, August 21. The visit was part of an exploratory mission for the upcoming ‘Skill, Dignity, and Opportunity’ project, which focuses on skill development and basic literacy for the incarcerated population.
The delegation, led by Managing Director BTEVTA, Tariq Mengal, was warmly welcomed by Saleem Tareen, Superintendent of Mach Correctional Facility. During the visit, the team evaluated the precision and quality of various vocational skills such as shoe making and wood carving—key components of the project that aim to enhance the residents’ expertise.
The objective of the ‘Skill, Dignity, and Opportunity’ project is to empower residents of the correctional facility by providing them with practical training in traditional crafts and market-relevant skills. This initiative is designed to prepare them for successful reintegration into society, turning their time in the facility into an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
This strategic visit highlights Taaleem Foundation’s dedication to not only observing but actively shaping a brighter future for those incarcerated. By honing these crafts, the project ensures that residents gain valuable skills that will support their reintegration and contribute positively to their communities.
This collaboration between Taaleem Foundation and BTEVTA marks a significant step in providing the tools necessary for prison residents to rebuild their lives and find dignity and opportunity through skill development
