Jahanian Pioneers Digital Education through e-School Initiative

23 September 2024: Jahanian, Khanewal – In a groundbreaking event organized by the officials of School Education Department in Jahanian-Khanewal, a commendable tribute was paid to Rehmat Foundation-the donor and Taaleem Foundation-the service provider of e-School Solution to 40 public sector schools in the district. Rahmat Foundation entrusted Taaleem Foundation to introduce its cutting-edge e-School Solution in this remote area of Punjab. This step marks the first time any tehsil in Pakistan has adopted digital education on such a scale, benefiting more than 100 teachers and 13,000 students, and setting a new standard in modern learning across Pakistan.

The event, held at Girls Community Model School, Chak No. 105/10-R, saw vibrant performance of the students celebrating this unique milestone.

Mr. Altaf Hussain Saqib, CEO of District Education Authority Khanewal, thanked both the foundations, saying, “This initiative brings a new era of education to our region. It will equip our students with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.” He conveyed heart-felt appreciation for the donors and service providers for having selected this remote area in Pakistan to experiment such a wonderful EdTech initiative.

Ms. Zahida Naseem, Deputy District Education Officer Jahanian, expressed her appreciation over the fact that e-School Solution bridges the technological divide, providing students in under-served areas the same access to digital resources as those in urban centers. She said that the initiative effectively fills in the gaps caused by teachers shortage, and enables the students to access interactive lessons and diverse learning materials without being limited to the resources of a single school or teacher. This is a game-changer in an educational landscape where many schools struggle with staffing and maintaining quality standards, she added.

Dr. Ghulam Qadir Maitla, the founding Chairman of Rahmat Foundation who hails from Jahanian, joined the event online and shared his thoughts on his long-term vision for this initiative. He expressed, “This is just the beginning. Our goal is to expand this digital learning solution to more regions, ensuring that no child is left behind in the technological age.” He thanked the community elders for expressing their concerns; the School Education Department for giving access to these schools; and Taaleem Foundation for rolling out this interactive learning technology in his native area.

Dr. Zafar Qadir, the Chairman of Taaleem Foundation, highlighted the uniqueness of this initiative, stating that unlike traditional chalkboard-based education, the e-School Solution introduces an EdTech platform, comprising of interactive smart boards, laptops, multimedia tools and LMS-based visual content that engages the students in a dynamic, hands-on learning experiences. He went on to say that “Our mission is to ensure that every single child in Pakistan has access to quality schooling, no matter where they come from. Through technology, we are not just teaching; we are shaping the future.” He emphasized Taaleem Foundation’s commitment to expanding digital education nationwide and bridging the technological gap in rural areas.

Ms. Shagufta Noreen, CEO of Taaleem Foundation, stated, “e-Learning will not only modernize our education system but also eliminate the inequalities faced by students and teachers. This is a revolutionary step forward for Pakistan’s educational framework.” She added that “the e-School Solution is more than just the smart boards; it’s a holistic upgrade to the way education is delivered. Students will have access to multimedia content, real-time assessments, and an engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages critical thinking, creativity, confidence, team work, communication and collaboration—key skills for the modern world.

Mr. Owais Munir, Assistant Education Officer, noted that: “this initiative is a life-changing opportunity for underprivileged children in Jahanian. With digital education, they now have the same opportunities as students in urban centers.”

The event drew parents, educators, journalists, lawyers, and local dignitaries, including Mr. Taimur Khan, Assistant Commissioner Jahanian; all of whom recognized the far-reaching impact of this technological leap and gathered together to register their gratitude to Rehmat Foundation and Taaleem Foundation for their effective and well-coordinated support to the area.
