Quetta, October 2: In a pivotal move to transform the city’s public services, Commissioner Quetta Division and Administrator of Metropolitan Corporation, Hamza Shafqaat, led a high-profile meeting aimed at outsourcing the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation’s girls’ school and Basic Health Units (BHUs). The meeting gathered influential figures, including Taaleem Foundation Chairman Dr. Zafar Qadir, CEO Asim Mushtaq, Chief of Metropolitan Corporation Attaullah Baloch, and other senior officials.
The focus was on revamping the Fatima Jinnah Girls School on Godat Singh Road and five BHUs through a public-private partnership. This strategic shift aims to deliver top-tier education and healthcare services while reducing the Metropolitan Corporation’s financial burden. By handing over management to the private sector, the initiative promises to improve the standard of schooling and health facilities for the community.
With state-of-the-art infrastructure already in place but under-performing, the need for a fresh approach is crucial. The meeting stressed that outsourcing is the key to unlocking the potential of these institutions. Building on previous successes, such as the outsourcing of the city’s solid waste management, which has drastically improved cleanliness, this partnership is expected to create lasting positive changes for Quetta residents.
