Syed Abu Ahmad Akif belongs to the Pakistan Administrative Service who secured first position in Pakistan in the highly competitive civil service examination of 1982. He worked as the Cabinet Secretary and Federal Secretary at the Ministry of Climate Change Pakistan, besides having worked as Director-General of Pakistan’s Hajj mission in Saudi Arabia for 5 years.
He obtained two master’s degrees from the University of Karachi and later an MPA degree from the ‘University of Hawaii’, USA in 1998-99. He also completed the master’s program in defense and strategic studies at the National Defense University, Islamabad during 2009.
He is an accomplished writer and author of 10 books and 100 plus published articles. He was bestowed with an honour that is rare for civil servants – the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2019.
